2024-2025 Studio Policies & Procedures
General Information | Weekly private lessons are offered in 30 minute or 45 minute sessions.
At The Studio | Students are required to arrive promptly for their lessons with all necessary materials and music. They may enter the house and wait for up to 5 minutes before their scheduled lesson. Parents and siblings are welcome to quietly wait in the living room, remain in their vehicle, or run errands, but they must return promptly to pick up the student.
Materials | Students will receive a music tote bag, as well as a homework notebook during their initial lesson to record assigned pieces and practice goals each week. The teacher will provide all necessary books and materials. Students are responsible for paying for music books.
Practice and Instrument | Private students are expected to practice daily a minimum of five days per week and meet the minimum practice time as determined by the teacher. Parents are encouraged to be supportive and active participants in practice at home.
Calendar and Schedule | Please see the attached studio calendar for 2024-2025. The calendar is also posted on the website.
Tuition and Payment | The monthly tuition is calculated according to the entire semester and divided into equal monthly installments. Tuition payments are based on my hourly rate of $60/hr, and include weekly piano lessons, occasional virtual studio events, and performance classes. At the beginning of each school year there is an annual $50 registration fee which covers materials and administrative costs for the year.
Additionally, I am pleased to offer a family rate for families with two or more children enrolled in lessons. Please feel free to reach out to me directly for more information on this.
Makeup Lessons | Students may have two excused absences per semester, with makeup lessons arranged at an alternate time. In cases of unforeseen circumstances like accidents or family emergencies, makeup lessons are available upon request. Please notify the teacher at least 24 hours in advance of any known absences.
Studio Events | Each year, the studio schedules a number of special events for students and their parents.
Virtual Events/Workshops: Online studio events are provided occasionally throughout the year to promote student camaraderie and to reinforce concepts taught during private lessons. Ex) Composition workshops, theory refreshers, music history, etc.
Performance Classes: Performance classes offer students a supportive environment to showcase their practiced pieces, receive feedback, and build confidence in a group setting.
Studio Recitals: Students will have two formal recitals each year, providing an exciting opportunity to demonstrate their progress to family and friends.
Examinations: Students are welcome to participate in theory examinations and/or performance evaluations. These opportunities require additional entry fees. Please contact the teacher for more information.
